Baptist School of Health Professions vs. SAC

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Has anyone attended either Baptist School of Health Professions or SAC's schools of nursing? I want to get into an RN program, but would love to hear some insights/experiences about the above two schools before diving into the applications process. Thanks in advance for your replies!

is there a science part in the net test? oh, and whats the time limit for each part and how many questions are there?

thanks.

Here is a good link to compare schools. Down toward the bottom is the NCLEX pass rates.

Yes, there is a science part. It is like 10-15 questions. I do not think that part of the test is part of the "grade" they use. They test you on numerous things but it is the reading comprehension and math skills that they look at the most. I personally had a hard time finishing the reading comrehension on time. It was like 35 min for 31 questions. As long as you study the study guide you will do fine. It is a pretty easy test. Good luck!

Just an FYI, NCLEX pass rates don't tell you anything about how good a nursing school is. A lot of schools are using "exit exams" to weed out students that would not be successful on the NCLEX so the schools will have higher pass rates.

I read an article for San Antonio that said schools with low graduation rates were getting funding cut.

ok so i just finished my net...and im not too happy with it. Im just wondering, has there been a case where baptist has admitted someone with a fairly high gpa, thats above the average, yet a not so high net result? i mean, my score was passing but its lower than the average score that they admit to the program.

i may take it again. i feel horrible. this is suppose to be an easy exam. the reading section was that one that really killed me. the questions were so tricky, yet no time to spare.

so they are really crucial on the net score?? :bluecry1:

I am new to the school so I can not say for sure, perhaps a graduate will offer some better advice. From what they told me, it is a combination of both your GPA and NET scores that determines who gets in. Maybe you did not do as bad as you thought? I think an 80 or above is considered competitive.

tuition for Baptist RN is almost $19,000. the "work-loan" is considered a scholarship, they do not give it to everyone. I had a 3.9 GPA and NET scores at 89/90 and did not get it. it is highly competitive, so don't get discouraged. apply everywhere and you will get in :)

Hey folks,

I am beginning my 2nd year at Baptist and it is now an associate's degree. According to our Dean we will be able to do a BSN in 5 to 7 years in the future at BSHP. If I am not mistaken the Tuition is around $19,000 now, but there is help out there if you need it. (Project Quest, The City of San Antonio, and scholarships, etc....) I love my school they will not "spoon" feed you information, but they want their students to succeed.:twocents:

Hi dqbruton,

I am considering going to Baptist for nursing or radiology. I know a lot about their nursing program, but do you know anything about their radiology program? I know they just made it an associates degree program, but I haven't heard if it is a good program or not. Any info would be great! Thank you!
