    Hi all,

I am trying to find out more information about the generic traditional BSN at Wayland Baptist University (San Antonio). Is it a good program? Is an entrance test required? I've searced the site but can't seem to find much about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

For the generic program there are no entrance exams. If you've been to college they require those transcripts, in some instances they require your hs transcript etc. As far as a good program I'm not sure. My advisor recommended the program to me but I did not want to do their prerequisites. For their on campus program you must have ALL prereqs completed before applying versus many other Texas schools that require you to have a minimum of, for example 40 out of 60, prereqs completed and a certain amount must be science prereqs. This link has all the basic info.
    http://www.sa.wbu.edu/bsn/genericBSN.htm
Other than all those prereqs they require (72-73) I would have applied, but I've found a better suited choice. Hope this helps!

Thanks. This helps alot. It does appear that they require extra prereqs.

    Hello,

I thought this information would be helpful to you.
Effective as of Fall 2012 all applicants are required to take the TEASV.
Seemingly the programs demand is on the rise and therefore has more requirements.
I will be starting the BSN generic program at WBU this spring starting Feb 20th. I will have more information on the 13 and 14 of Feb; those are the orientation dates. I'll reply back with any additional info if you are still interested in the program.

how is the generic program? I'm looking to either do the online or generic. I'd rather do the online to avoid the breaks and finish quicker but I want to do the generic so I can get the classroom experience. How do you like it so far?

I am very pleased with the program, it is a generic BSN. High nclex pass rates and it has a national accreditation. Effective this fall semester there is a TEAS test that must be taken before getting accepted. I would search the wayland site and call the nursing advisors to sort out what classes you need etc... to get accepted.

Sorry for the uber late response!
I am taking it physically, this rotation concludes my first year. I continue to enjoy the program; it has it's quirks like any other but overall very pleased.

LillyDee, are you still at Wayland's program? If so, I am hoping to start in August but I've heard the program is under warning by the BON, do you know anything about this?
