Any hope for experienced LVNs in DFW area in LTC?

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I'm a newer LPN with one year of experience in nursing homes, and I was wondering how the market was in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for experienced LVNs. (I'm currently in high-cost New Jersey.) I know that hospitals are out, and I'm used to LTC, so I would be looking specifically at nursing homes. Would I have a chance to get hired at a nursing home in that area? Or any other area in Texas? Thanks in advance. :)

With plenty of persistence, you might have a chance at a LTC job in the DFW area. My idea of persistence involves going to every facility within a 50 mile radius to submit your application and resume in person, even if the place does not have an advertisement for nurses. Persistence also involves following up with every application within a week.

I first moved to the DFW area in 2005, and all of the facilities were begging for nurses back then. Now, the tides have changed due to the sluggish economy, so it is considerably harder to land employment. Good luck to you!
