I am going to finish all my prereqs this fall (2012) and apply for the fall 2013 program. From everything I have read online, it seems that there is a shortage of professors and this is why so few students are admitted. Can this be expected to change? I find it kind of ridiculous that even with a perfect score of 56, many students are not being accepted their first time due to the huge number of reapplicants. Since I am not going to be accepted the first time (my predicted score is 53.5), would it be worth it to retake classes to get a higher rank? I realize it would help, but if I do not retake any courses my score will be a 58.5 upon reapplying. Is this a high enough rank? I am planning on taking additional classes while I wait in hopes of completed the bridge program at UT. Online it says a 3.0 GPA, but is this a 3.0 in the nursing program or for the additional prereqs or what? I have many of the bridge courses already completed from dual credit highschool program, would these count? Has anyone completed this program or is currently in it?

That's very encouraging! I was 227 of that 406, with 52.82

I am in skills now, I am really hoping to get in for the Spring 2014 class!!!

Hi everyone. My first application cycle was spring 2013, 53.8. I was offered skills, took that jan-march and reapplied for fall 2013. Accepted with 62.4.

I never got a rank so I can't tell you my number.

I was one of the students who deferred. (I'm expecting, due in October, def. a surprise). I reapplied for spring 2014 as you can defer 2x without penalty. Ill have 67.4 for spring 2014, so it's for sure I'm in. But annoyed I couldn't start this fall, of course.

Just wanted to share my numbers since I was super curious when I first applied.

Hi everyone,

I am starting Level 1 in the Spring and am hoping to get some recommendations on shoes.

Also, my skills instructor recommended a Littman stethoscope, but I am curious which one(s) you all have found that work well for your needs.

I'm in Level 3 at CEC, and I also already went through ACC's LVN program so I can definitely recommend some stuff....

Get plain white tennis shoes- don't go with a nursing brand new because you will never want to wear white shoes after nursing school (they get dirty easily obviously) and they are usually more expensive and at least in my experience, uncomfortable. I bought NurseMates thinking they'd be great.. since, yanno, they are "made" for nurses. They are SO uncomfortable- my feet and back hurt so bad after clinical days. I work in a nursing home part time and I wear regular Nike walking tennis shoes- the difference is unreal, I swear I have more energy when I wear them too.

As for a stethoscope I have a Littman Classic II and I really like it. It's great and works well, though I plan to upgrade after graduation but that's mainly because I've had it for almost 4 years now and it's getting a little beat up. They just put the handbook out for Spring 2014 and are no longer requiring white shoes only. We can do black, grey or white shoes. Which I am extremely glad for, because now I can get all black leather Keens, which I KNOW are super comfy for all day on my feet.
