UTHSCSA-Spring 09 Applicants

I was wondering if there were any people applying for Spring 09 that wanted to share information and have someone to talk to. I applied and they sent my GPA report. It's wrong so I need to get them to fix it. There is an open house on Thursday, June 19th. Good luck to all.

Hi,
I've applied for Spring 2009 also. I have received my gpa report but other than that I haven't heard anything else. I'm still taking some prereqs. 2 in the summer and 2 in the fall.

Good Luck. I know it will take a month for the interview letters to come out. I have a high prereq GPA but a low overall so I'm not sure how good of a chance I actually have. Are you going to apply anywhere else?

UTHSCSA is the only place I am applying. I really hate to put all my eggs in one basket but that's what I'm going to do. I guess if I don't get accepted then I'll look into SAC or another program. I know it's quite a gamble with how competitive it is but I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best.

Are you applying anywhere else?

I did apply at SAC but I won't get in because their point system is very different and they have a very high count of applicants. I really need my BSN and would like to get my MSN. But if I don't get an invite for an interview in the next month I think I'll go apply at Baptist. I have a family to take care of and I don't have much time to wait to get into a program. So, if I go into a certificate program I'll go from RN to MSN through UTHSCSA. They have ten slots for that program and they said that they are rarely filled.

Hopefully we'll both get an interview. I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us.

hi fellow spring applicants! i applied to the spring 09 semester at uthscsa as well, and i am hoping to do the accelerated option. can someone confirm that on the application we specified which program we were interested in pursuing? also, after the interview, how long is the turn around time for the letter of acceptance/rejection? i want to apply to other schools in the event that i'm not accepted to uthsc, but i don't want to shell out the extra $$ for application fee...
please share what you all may know.
good luck to all.

I don't know much. They will have the interview letters out by the begining of September. I believe that they have about a month between each phase. Honestly, if you call the school and ask them, I would add two weeks to whatever they say. They are very slow. From what they told me about 500 people apply and then they will take the top half and ask them for interviews. Then they only choose about 100-120 people. Only 20 people are allowed to go into the accelerated program. I did not see a spot on the app for the option. But the lady during the open house said it was on the application. You should call the nursing program coordinator and ask about that option. Well, that's about all I know. Good luck. Oh, average GPA is 3.6
