UTH accelerated BSN 2010

by bach09

Hello all, I took my NET today and made a 86 overall and 93% math and 79% reading comp. Currently my science GPA is 4.0 and nurse pre req is 2.97 I am taking A&P II and Gen Chem this semester and plan on making A's so that should bring my nursing pre reqs up. Also since the deadline is Dec 1 but my classes dont finish until end of December does that mean I will have an even less chance of getting in since they will have already looked at tons of applicants before they even get to mine?

Do I have a chance with the ABSN? I would love to think this is what I will be doing this summer but just dont feel like I will be.
Anyone else applying?
Thanks

Hello Bach 09. I thank you so much for posting. I have been looking for other students applying to UT-Houston's 2010 accelerated program. I am also applying. My GPA is 3.4 overall and a 4.0 in science. I have not recieved my score for my NET exam yet. I am taking math statistics right now and will not be finished until the end of December as well. I am assuming you have already taken A&P I. Have you already taken Microbiology? I am asking because to be considered UT requires you to complete at least 40 of the required 60 hours of prerequisite work. 8 of those hours must be from the science prerequisite: A&P, Microbiology, and Chemistry. Here is a link you can go to:

http://son.uth.tmc.edu/prospstudent/...k-off-list.pdf

If you have at leat 8 hours of science right now I wouldn't worry too much. I also think you have a good chance if you close out the semester with A's. I read on a post that one accelerated student was admitted with a 3.0 and no hospital experience. I believe if you work hard and show UT you want this, they will see it. Lets keep in touch and get one another through this process. Hopefully others will come aboard.

Hi Yolansmith, yes I am taking AP II and general chem right now online. Chemistry is killing me though! Then i only have 3 more classes until I am completely done for all pre reqs. So next semester I will be taking Microbiology, nutrition and family development i believe...I hope thats it! I have not gotten a transcript eval but from what I can tell most of my classes should transfer.

Do you know how this process works? All i have done is the application online and sent in the needed academic records, but I have not been able to put in any kind of experience in medicine or anything like that...does that come later?

I am currently living in Germany so obviously have only been speaking with the school by phone which is hard to do sometimes So any extra info you have is great! My fingers are crossed for the both of us

All information for the accelerated program is due December 1, 2009. Since you are taking courses outside of the US, your coursework must be evaluated by a credentialing service to see which courses satistfy the prerequisites. The process seems pretty simple. After the application process, you may be selected for an interview. From what I have read the interview consists of a writing sample and an interview. This could take place as early as January. From the interview pool UT will select its candidates around March or April.
