UTA Spring 2010

Hey Goopsy!

My friend applied last year for Spring 09 and she was accepted so I went through the whole process with her! I know that they send out interview letters/decline letters at the end/mid of sept if I remember correctly and for sure I know they send out the official acceptance letters a week before Halloween! I know that bc halloween is my B-day so I am either going to have a great bday this year or a bad one lol Lets hope for a great one!

She said the interview went very smooth just basic questions with why you want to be a nurse and no they don't do the writing sample anymore. Thank God!

i am also applying for spring 2010 admission to UTA nursing program. does anyone know how much of an importance taking the hesi test is? will it play a big factor in you getting in nursing school?

Also "misspink86" do u know what your friends GPA was upon applying for nursing school? mine will end up being around a 3.78 but i dont know if thats good enough

Ayeisha, I know that her science gpa was a 4.0 and I think her other pre req gpa was over a 3.6...your GPA is good you'll definitely get an interview! I think the hesi will be a factor but not a big one. I've always heard that the science GPA is the biggest factor but who knows!

ok thanks. yea my science gpa is 4.0, but the thing is i took all my science courses at TCC. ive been told several times that nursing staff wont acknowledge science courses tookin at tcc even if it is a 4.0.....but im hoping this is not the case

ha ha so did I! OMG yeah I have a 4.0 science gpa too! and so did my friend (the one who is a J1 now)! Thats why I took all my sciences at TCC bc she took all of hers at Dallas community college! I think both of us are gonna get an interview, I hope Hey an A's an A.....it doesnt matter where you get it. We should be ok! Now its just the Hesi we need to take! Hey have you taken pharm or patho yet?

i feel soo much better knowing someone is in the same situation as me. so many people were being negative about me taking my sciences at tcc that i was starting to really woder if it was such a good idea, but like you said an A is an A regardless. yea i havent filled out an application yet because i wanted to talk to my counselor before i did to make sure everthing is going as planned. i plan on doing that next week. after that i really just plan on studying up for the hesi test. im not sure what the dates are, but im probably gonna take it no later than mid july.
no i havent taken pharm or path yet. i decided to wait and take it during the fall. i could have taken it during the summer but if i did i wouldnt have enough classes during the fall to be a fulltime student. how bout u? is UTA the only school r applying to?

Hey! yeah I'm applying to UT-Houston and I am thinking about applying to UTMB. Keeping my options open lol yeah I am taking pharm & Patho in fall as well, I heard they are some pretty tough classes. I picked up my application about a month go lol but I havent filled it out yet bc I'm getting ready for finals. As far as the Hesi I'm scheduled to take it at the end of May, I am so nervous whose your advisor? Mine is Justin hes pretty cool Im meeting w/ him after grades post! Keep me up to date! Oh yeah some people are just going to be negative bc they took all of there classes at UTA and they don't think its right when you take classes else where, but whatever thats them!!! lol But I think that the grades get you the interview and then the interview lands a spot in the nursing program. B/c I know another girl that had a 4.0 science gpa she also took her sciences somewhere other than UTA and she got waitlisted eventually she got in like 2 weeks later bc there was an open spot so yeah!
