Re: UTA GPA
Hi IceStar817 and Ayiesha
I was scrolling through and I saw your post. Its fun to see UTA represented on AllNurses!!! I am a Spring 09 grad(YAY!

) and would like to tell you both Congrats(Icestar) and good luck(ayiesha). UTA's program is really a good one and many would like to be a part of it. A piece of advice I would give if you will have it is to focus on doing your best. I understand that GPA is the door opener, however, you have no control over the competition. The group of people you apply with may have more influence than you think. (if the gpa is lower as a whole your gpa may stand out more and vice versa)
As I always tell the students I mentored and came across, please don't stress yourselves to the limit worrying about the "A." (hehe) Although it is doable, it doesnt detract from you becoming an awesome nurse. You need to make sure you understand the information presented to you. As well all know, college tends to be all about the grades, but Nursing school is really about capturing knowledge and applying it. What good would you be if you scored hundreds on every test because you studied well(crammed) or were an awesome test-taker but when in hands on action you have no clue what is what and how to practice. Not to say that one may not be able to score well and be excellent in clinical, but I have come across fellow classmates that didnt score well on exams but were the best in patient care and applying information and were able to help others

.
Stay grounded and focused and MANAGE your time well. Dont let anyone tell you that you will have no life in Nursing school...you will if you make time...and PLEASE make time, you will go NUTS if you dont(smile

). Take advantage of the resources like the LRC and staff(DeeDee is AWESOME) and the folks on the 6th floor. Don't be afraid to ask questions and most importantly for help.
Congrats again and good luck!

(<-- you may do this a few times as well...everyone goes through that moment so know you are NOT alone!)
