UTA Academic Partnership with Baylor Hospital System

by pinkORT

Hi,

I am an employee at Baylor Dallas, and I was wondering if anyone has heard anything from UTA about the BSN academic partnership program that officially starts Jan.10, 2010 (the nursing classes not prerequisites). I am also just curious to talk to others who applied.

Hi pinkORT,

I applied to the program and have not received the acceptance letter yet. I did receive an email from my advisor yesterday letting me know the letters should be in the mail! I am not an employee with any of the partnering hospitals, so I would enter the program as unpaired and then be paired later. I'm not exactly sure how it all works yet though.

Hi pinkort--
I work at a different partner hospital that also has a partnership agreement w/ UTA. I applied in early October, had transcripts sent, etc and my "app status" still shows as "application received and completed but under review". So I called the academic partnership admissions person that had previously responded to my request for info.

She wasn't sure why the above showed, but informed me that I had been accepted and that I would receive a "course map" in the mavs email system this coming week. To date I still have not received an official acceptace letter, but did receive something shortly after my initial app w/ my NetID and temp password. You also have to set-up your mavs email account that is shown on your profile, since this is where the course map, etc will be sent.

Several co-workers are working on their ADN-BSN degree thru UTA and really like the pgm so far. I will also start in Jan 2010 and really looking forward to it!

hey guys!! I applied as well. I talked to the associate Dean on Thursday of last week, and she told me that letters would be mailed today! I got acceptance to the regular 2 yr program, and I am waiting to see if I got into the fast track before I accept the offer for the regular program. She told me that I would have ample time to consider both programs, and since I have to notify them by Friday 13th of my decion for the regular program, I would think that tomorrow I would get the letter, either way. If I get an offer for the fast track though, I'm not sure if I will accept since the program is brand new and we wouldn't get any breaks for summer. Btw, my letter for the regular program was poststamped on the 28th of October, and I got it on the 29th.

Let us know if you get a letter in the mail so we know to check ours!

Hi goopsy,

Do you work at a partnered hospital? I work at a Parkland, which is partnered with UTA. I also applied to begin in January. I am just wondering how people are able to apply for the program without being partnered. I was told that was a requirement. I was just wondering. Also, if not partnered do you know no student loans or financial aid is available? Well please let me know if you hear anything.

I do not work at a partnered hospital. It is not a requirement to work at a partnered hospital. I have been told that by 3 different advisors since back in March. If we are not partnered then it is not covered by the hospital. We have to pay for it ourselves. I will let you know if I hear anything.

Hey guys! Just wanted to give an update...I received my acceptance letter in the mail today & I'm in the program!! Since I am not partnered I will just rank the 3 partnering hospitals for preference and they will place me with one based on availability. I did not hear anything about not being able to have financial aid, that seems kind of strange but I guess it could be true. I know a lot of "kinks" have been smoothed out since they originally began to plan for the program and I'm sure there are more that need to be worked out; but I am super excited to get started! Let me know if you hear any additional info...

Thank you goopsy!! I am super excited...congrats to you on getting into the 2yr program!! Do you still think you are leaning toward the 2yr program even if you do get excepted to the AP one?

As far as my preference goes for the hospitals, I think I would like to be partnered with Baylor. Of course the other two are great as well! Either way it goes I will be happy!!

Hi Jellybean,

Congrats on your acceptance! I am curious...Was your acceptance letter into the Nursing program or the Academic Partnership? You will receive 2 different letters. I am accepted into the Academic Partnership and currently taking classes. However, there is a seperate application for the actual nursing program. No one in our class received letters today and someone called and they said letters hadn't been mailed out yet? Just curious as I have been hearing so many different things. Also, I just e-mailed my advisor and they did just change the policy to where financial aid is available. So that will help out a lot!! Congrats again!
