UT Austin SON

I was reading the SON website and they require you to enter UT as a pre nursing major and take some of their specific pre reqs and then you apply to upper division courses, and/or the nursing school. Any current/former UT nursing students around to help me out?

What is the likelihood of getting accepted to the upper division courses? I am an Austinite by birth, but I moved to Seattle and I was planning to try to apply to UT among other schools. I've been thinking of moving back home, and I've always wanted to go to UT. I am a little nervous about it though, because I'd hate to move back, go for a semester or two and then not get accepted into the upper division.

Any thoughts?

I looked into going to Austin, but the fact that they make you apply for UT for a year and then MIGHT accept you into the SON was a major turn off. I would suggest looking into the UT Health Sciences Center program as they are a straight two year program. Texas Tech also has an excellent program from what I understand.
Personally, with the cost of living in Austin I decided to go to UTHSCSA SON.

Yes, that uncertainty is making me hesitate too... I missed the deadline for fall admission to UTSA, so I'd have to apply for spring semester... and I might...
although as to the cost of living, compared to what it is here in Seattle, Austin's cheaper, and it's where my family lives... but San Antonio isn't too far from there either (definitely closer than Seattle) I could hang for a couple of years if I got in, I'm sure.
