UT Alternate Entry MSN

by rnav32

I was just curious if there are any graduates of this program here in TX? Does anyone know of any individuals who may have completed the program? Did anyone pursue this program with a focus on holistic adult health (clinical nurse specialist)? Was it easy to find work with the completion of this program? Any information would greatly be appreciated.

Hi RNAV!

I was going to apply to this program last year but decided not to. If you have questions about it, I will give you information from my advisor through PM. (private message)

Thanks!

Did anyone else apply to UT Austin for the Alternate Entry MSN? I applied for summer 2008. Had a phone interview in January and I'm still waiting to hear about acceptance. They said letters would be mailed in February.

Hello all,

I am an AEMSN graduate from UT (Parent-Child Clinician track). I am happy to answer any questions you might have. This is about the time that those who have applied should be receiving their notifications of acceptance/rejection. Good luck to the applicants!

In short, it is a rigorous program that takes a tremendous amount of commitment and sacrifice. Given the opportunity to do it again, I would have done some things differently but overall I am very happy with my education.

Feel free to post any questions you may have!

Hello. I am graduating with my BS in Biology from UT- Austin and have applied for the AE MSN program starting 2009 for Child Health (they split the parent/child clinician route). I had a few questions about your experience:

Were you able to work part time as a nurse after your RN or did you find it to be too much?

When should I really expect to find out from each school (UT Graduate Office and the Nursing Department)?

How easy was it to find a job in your desired field with your degree, and do you feel that your experience at UT was beneficial to your career?

My GRE was 1150 and my Upper Division GPA is 3.48. How did this compare to other students who got accepted into the program. I have been volunteering and shadowing the past two years, and I really want to get into the program, but I am of course nervous about being rejected!

Please let me know if you have any tips to give me if I were to be accepted (e.g. classes, how to approach studying etc.)

Thanks so much!

Hello, I know you made your post to the UT MSN program some time back. I am going to apply for this program, but wanted to hear your feedback. would you recommend this path? It commented that you would have made some changes.
