Typical non nursing Upper level courses in RN-BSN or BSN program

I am looking into starting an RN -BSN program this fall and the program I am looking at requires you to take courses like the following to graduate (above and beyond your typical prereqs)

a) Technical Writing

b) American Literature

c) General Upper Level (non nursing) course.

Is this fairly typical. Do other RN -BSN programs require any Jr or Sr level non nursing classes ?
Thanks
