TWU Students Fall 09...

Any students on here planning to start TWU's (Dallas) nursing program in Fall 09? I was originally planning on doing El Centro's ADN program, but I figured due to the calendar of me being pushed back to starting in Spring 09, I might as well go for the BSN for Fall 09 and have it out of the way.

For those already in TWU's program in Dallas, how do you like it? I've heard it is better to take Patho and Pharm in the summer prior to starting nursing school. Is this true?

Thanks

I would definitely get it out of the way beforehand if you can. A lot of people who fail out first semester fail out because of pharm, so it would be easier if you took it when you could devote more time solely (or almost solely) to pharm. That first semester of nursing school is overwhelming enough as it is... you are getting used to a whole new way of thinking and a whole new vocabulary! There really is a learning curve to get over that first semester, but then it gets easier from there.

I took everything all at once, but I didn't really have a choice. I might have left with my sanity intact, had I taken pharm and patho in advance! Besides that, I really like TWU's program. I've had almost nothing but excellent professors and clinical instructors. I would try to stay away from adjunct clinical instructors if at all possible (I was lucky enough not to have to have any of those). The clinical instructors who are also on faculty at TWU are the best.

I think you are making a smart choice by deciding to go for your BSN from the get go. I already know of several recent-grad ADN's who are already doing their RN-to-BSN so they can get their masters or move ahead. Good luck!
