Re: TWU Spring 2010
Congrats guys! I graduated from TWU Houston in 2006 and now work in MICU. It was hard but I enjoyed it and I made some of my best friends there. Enjoy the new building, the old one had one woman's room per floor and the lines were crazy! Nursing tests are different, you're used to A+B = C always. In nursing school there is always more than one answer, the test questions are always "What would the nurse do first" and the answer is almost never "Call the Dr." Good Luck! | | No. 1194 |

thanks for the tips Tibbymc! I was going to send you a private message to ask you this question so people that it doesn't apply to don't have to read it, but for some reason it wouldn't let me! basically, i'm trying to decide between twu and ut health science center, and was wondering if you could let me know what the general reputation of each school is. i know they're both great schools, and obviously you'll be a bit bias as a twu grad, but is there anything you have experienced maybe with coworkers who are uthsc grads, that makes you glad you went to twu?

Try it now if you want specifics, I had to jump through hoops to reactivate my account. This was harder than making changes to my bank account haha! As far as the schools go they're going to have the same curriculum, but I've heard UT Houston has a summer semester which I did not like. Some of the teachers are even the same, at least for patho. Once you graduate and start working it won't matter where you went because no nursing school can really teach you what you'll need to know, that's why getting a summer job is so important. I worked in an ER the summer before I graduated and I got more out of clinicals that last semester because of it. I'm not saying you don't learn anything in clinicals, but it's much different and they treat you different when you're done with school and working. Good luck choosing, in the long run it won't matter. TWU's tuition might still be cheaper though, I talked to a UTH student while in school and she was complaining that the cost went up. I can't recall any UTH coworkers either, mostly TWU, UT Austin, PVAM, and community colleges. | | No. 1196 |

Re: TWU Spring 2010
I noticed the tuition for both TWU and UTA is going up in the Spring, so maybe UTHSC is as well? I think it's a state thing.
Well guys...I'm leaning towards UTA at this point. Sorry if I disapoint any (I doubt most of you will care, lol). I just can't pass UTA up, and it's nothing against TWU. TWU is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's more of a personal thing. It's a me thing and not really the school. (As I'm reading this in my head, it kind of sounds like a breakup lol). You guys have been great, and I am so thankful for all of your support. I am still here to talk with all of you, if you want. The best thing about all of this is that someone is going to get my seat, and I am sooooo happy that someone else's dream is going to happen just because I decline! How sweet is that?
ali523, I think you are kind of like me in that you just can't turn down UTHSC for some reason. Although TWU sounds great to you, there is something about UTHSC that is appealing to you, is that right? That's just the way it sounds to me when I read what you have written on the thread so far.

I totally understand, Goopsy, but you will be missed at TWU! Good luck at UTA, they are lucky to have you!

goopsy, exactly how i feel! i'm not really sure exactly what it is, or why, but i just can't turn them down, even though i really want to! i like that twu doesn't have school in the summer, and ut doesn't have that break. i guess i have a few more hours to decide!
