Hey! I will be attending TWU in the fall of 2008 as well. My concern right now is where am I going to live and how am I going to pay for my personal needs for the whole year without working. What I'm going to do is work 2 jobs for the entire summer and raise at least 5 grand. Financial aid should help cover some of the cost of housing but you can always apply for a loan if it's not enough. I'd suggest trying to look for a roommate and getting a NICE apartment around the medical center. If you can't find a roommate and you have to live by yourself, I suggest living in clear lake, pearland, or sugar land and do the park and ride to the medical center because it can be dangerous living by yourself in Houston. Unless if you pay for a 1 bedroom between the prices of $700-$1000ish a month, look else where. But that's just me...

I hate to tell you this, but housing in the Med Center can SUCK for a student. It is expensive, so us poor college kids tend to clump together in the not-so-nice apartments.

But in all honesty, the not-so-nice apartments really aren't that bad. In the Fannin-Holly Hall-Cambridge-Almeda area there are tons of relatively affordable (and relatively safe) apartment complexes, including Harvest Hill where I live. It's not that bad; you get used to the area and you learn to just keep an extra eye out. But in the year I've been going to school in the Med Center, I've only had one friend have a problem: her car got broken in to. Out of everyone I know, that's it.

I lived in Archstone and it's .. not that great. It's nice to be on the rail, though. Lived in Park Lakes on Buffalo Spwy and they're nice. Parking is bad so be sure to get a reserved spot. Right now I'm on Almeda and my rent is 1350 for a 1 bedroom but the place is awesome.
