Thinking about moving to Texas from Indiana

My wife and I are considering moving from Indiana to Houston. My wife strongly prefers Florida (she likes the beaches and waterparks), but the job market seems really weak there right now. I have one year Med/Surg/PCU experience (I would like to make a move into critical care or Emergency medicine to broaden my experience base) while she has 4.5 years in Cardiac ICU and would like to work as a travelor for the extra money. Right now I earn 22.00 and with nights it works out to about 28 per hour (three dollar more on weekends). She earns about $25.00 or about the same with the night bonus (her hospital pays less for nights/weekends). What could we expect in Houston or Corpus Christi? Florida (Orlando or Tampa where she wants to move) is looking like it will be a 2-3 dollar per hour cut EACH! Any input on Texas that might give her a different perspective? Thanks.
