The Methodist Hospital

by joy1181

This hospital was ranked #9 as one of the best places to work in the U.S. Does anybody know anything about the workplace?

I live in Houston and I can tell you that is a very good hospital ;however, the patients along with their families are very spoiled.Sometime this interferes with their care. They treat it like a hotel rather than a hospital. Methodist is one of the best hospitals in Houston.

I loved working at TMH in TMC however as tym21 said the families and Pt's were very spoiled. Maybe it was the unit that I worked on, but honestly there were many times where I felt more like a paid servant then an educated woman. The people that I worked with (fellow nurses) were great, however it would have also been great for management (DON) to stand up more for her nurses rather then treat us like door mats.
on a side note they also offered a ton of bonus's and events to help improve staff's happiness.

Is that Tomball Methodist Hospital? If so, we loved it! I took my father there to have Bi-lateral Hernia surgery there and all the nurses and the rest of the staff treated us very good. I can assure you we were not the spoiled ones .

IF you smoke, they have what they call a "smoke free campus" and they mean it!! With the belief that they are there to promote health, and smoking is NOT healthy. Which, I agree.

It's like Nazi guards watching the place. To the point that a nurse is NOT even allowed to go and get in their car and smoke.

I don't smoke, but knew a lot of people who quit because of their policy. Not sure if other hospitals are the same. AND they were willing to get nurses "patches" to help them quit.
