Texas Woman's University-help with pre req questions

Hi Everyone, I've been reading over the posts about Texas Woman's University and I appreciate the info, however I am a little confused about the pre req requirements. I am currently attending Lone Star to get my pre reqs done and after contacting the Houston office of TWU I was told if you are not "core complete" at your transfer school you have to take the computer course, the womens multicultural class, and the math 1013 I think it was. The reason I am really wanting to find out is because I had planned on taking the Psych Statistics course rather than the Math Statistics course to save myself having to take an extra math course. However, if I do that I end up having to take 6 hrs of additional math courses. Has anyone else run into this problem? Or can you clear up exactly what the pre reqs are? Their website is confusing and I'm even more confused after talking to the rep from the school about the math requirements.
I plan on applying to both UT Houston and TWU since the both have the same basic core curriculum. I just wanted to know if anyone had applied recently or was attending that could answer the math questions for me. Thanks for your time.

TWU makes you take a math stats class so if you interested in applying to the program you need to take it.

Hi there, thanks for the post. Yeah they have listed that you can take the Psych stat class, but it looks like you have to jump through some hoops if you do. At UT it doesn't matter either way and they don't require you to take additional math courses. I'm having to take Math 0306-0310, so I wanted to avoid having to take College Algebra as well, but I'll have to if I'm going to have to take the math stat class. Do you know if there is a speech requirement for TWU? Thanks again.

Take Care,
sonseria

Oh really? Did you have any other math courses or were you core complete at your school that you did your pre reqs? I'm taking mine at Lone Star and they told me if I'm not core complete then I have to take the Math 1013 and the womens study course and the computer course. And in order for them to count the psych stat course you need 6 hrs of college math including the Math 1013. At this rate it would be easier to just take the 2 math courses and the stat class rather than try to get the extra courses in order to be core complete at Lonestar. Did you run into this issue?

I have a Bachelors in Government and Sociology from TWU and as of the Fall 2007 I had to take Quantitative analysis (math 1013)....I am a RN as well and just applied for the RN to BSN program Quantitative analysis is listed again ...I am pretty sure that everyone has to take it now...Not that big of a deal if you take it at a community college just make sure it is the same course and that it will transfer...

Well the big issue I was having is since I'm not going to be core complete at Lone Star, since I'm just going for the pre reqs that I need is that I wouldn't have the math hours if I chose to take the psych stat course. So either way I'll have to take college algebra and the math 1013 in order to apply. So it's a pain in the butt. Thanks for your post!

When I applied to TWU in the spring of 2007 I transferred in algebra as my math (then only 3 hours were required). I was core complete when I transferred into TWU and I had a AAS in liberal arts ...well when the fall came and I actually started working on my upper division they sprung this Quantitative analysis on me....tip do not take it at TWU...take it at a CC much easier

Well I was originally only going to apply to UT Houston, but when I started looking they have the same basic pre reqs so I figured I'd apply to both schools at the same time. The big difference with UT is you can take either stat course without having to take the extra math courses. Since I'm having to take 3 developmental math courses I'm a bit burned out on math and really don't want to have to take 2 extra math classes, but I figured it might give me a foot up to apply to more than one school. However I'm not really sure which is a better school.

Not sure if this was directed to me or not, but i wasn't core complete when i was accepted to twu. i did take a women's studies course at twu over a maymester (or could have taken a multicultural) and the computer class was not required for us back then (accepted in spring 05).
