Make sure they approve the pysch stats before you take it. TWU has made changes starting this spring. Make sure you get a good grade the first time you take it. They are starting to look at this now and will hurt you if u have to retake the class. They will still take the highest grade I believe

Hi there, oh well good to know. I think I may end up just taking the math based stat class just to save myself the heartache of having to worry too much about it. Thanks for the advice!

Smile Re: Texas Woman's University-help with pre req questions
I'm taking my pre-req's at Lone Star, too, and I am also confused about the TWU requirements. I have College Algebra, and I am planning on taking Statistics. UT looks like it will take either Math or Psych Statistics course, but TWU appears to only take the Math Statistics. Since I'll apply to both, I'll probably just take the Math one to be safe. However, I'm wondering if we have to go back and take Quantative Literacy in addition or will they just take the College Algebra and Statistics as our Math courses? If I have to take Quant. Lit., does anyone know the course number for Lone Star? I couldn't find one that matched up. Another subject I want to bring up is that I noticed that UT requires a Sociology class whereas TWU doesn't show that requirement on their website. Does anyone know if TWU is going to want us to have Sociology down the road as well? Third, does anyone know if ENG 2327 Survey of American Lit. satisfies the PHIL/Humanities requirement? It's listed as a Humanities course on my transcript so I was thinking they might accept it. Sorry about all the questions, but that's what this forum is for, right?

Hi there, well from what I gathered from talking to the advisor at TWU unless you are core complete at your transfer school you have to take the Quantatative math course, and the women's cultural class and the computer literacy course.
As far as the stat class goes I had originally planned on taking the psych stat course since UT accepts it, however for TWU if you take the psych stat course you'll have to have 6 additional hrs of math courses including the Quantatative math. I'm pretty sure Lone Star's nbr for that math course is 1332, that's what the transfer guide online said anyways, you may want to check with an advisor just to be sure. I'm not sure on the Lit course. I know a lot of the universities will allow certain lit courses to be used for the humanaties credit.

Good luck hope this helps.

That helps a lot. Thank you for your quick reply. By the way, do you know about the Sociology requirement? I guess if only UT needs it, then I'll just take that at the end. That way I can apply to TWU once I get the other classes done. Any ideas on what class (online preferrably) and teacher to take for the Women's Multicultural class at Lone Star? As far as the Computer class goes, I noticed the TWU catalog shows that you can take a competency exam in Computer Literacy in lieu of a class. I may try that since it would mean that there's one less class I have to take. It seems like I'm so far away, ugh!

Hi there, no problem at all. I spent the last few weeks scouring their website and contacting their advisors to figure out what they wanted as well. I've noticed their website makes it a little difficult to find out exactly what they are wanting. I am currently taking Sociology online during this last short summer term. I know for sure it is required for UT, but as far as TWU goes I don't think it is, but I can double check the info they sent me and get back to you about it.
As far as the women's multicultural course you can take that at TWU while you're taking your nursing courses, it isn't a required pre req to apply. I'm not sure if LoneStar has a comparable class, unless you were to contact TWU with a course listing from LoneStar's catalog to see if it would transfer or not. And yes, I did see as well that you can test out of that computer course, but I was told both the computer and women's cultural can be done after you get into TWU, so unless you just have the extra time right now I wouldn't stress over it.
Best of luck! I know exactly what you mean, seems like a terribly long time to get through the courses, but it will fly by.

This is what I found directly from their site, the information that I received from them never said anything about a Sociology requirement, so you should only have to take it if you're also applying to UT.
Also you can go to this page of their site and download a copy of their equivlancy guide, it will show you what the common course nbrs are for the community colleges.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you need anymore help with anything.

so in order to apply to upper division, we have to have at least 42 of these 58 credits? and what exactly is this "quantitative literacy" class? ive never heard of that..? do we have to take that as well?
