When you say you haven't heard "glowing" things about TWU, what do you mean? I've heard this from three different people now but haven't seen anything concrete to back the claim up. Can you enlighten us? I'm considering going there this spring, so any information you could provide would be appreciated. Originally Posted by biscuitnic I'm looking at TCU myself and UTA. It definitely wasn't my GPA that didn't allow me to get in. Had they have taken into account that I was able to maintain a 3.9 + GPA while juggling a full time job at one of the big 4 global accounting firms, three children (ages 8, 3, and 20 months), and still manage to build a small business (hair and nail salon) for my wife and manage the daily processes of it too, then perhaps they would have let me in. Did I gripe and wine about not getting in? YOU BET I DID!!! But hey, it's time to move on. TWU....here I come!!!!
i guess i better hop on the TWU train since i just got my acceptance letter today. i don't think i have anything going for me BESIDES gpa to get me into UTHSC. | | No. 22 |

TWU Houston and TCU both have programs for people who hold BS degrees that will put you through nursing school in 14 mos and then you will also have a BSN.
Thats the ones I would check into if you already have a BS

When I went to TWU, there was an attitude amongst the teachers and the students that TWU is better than other programs. The instructors time and time again would tell us how lucky we were to be at TWU, and how, when all was said and done, we'd know so much more than even the doctors. This was several years ago, mind you, so it may be different now. But I think this attitude might be a reason why there is so much negativity toward TWU.
Like I said, this was several years ago--things might be different. So if you go to TWU, please don't take offense; I am just speaking about my experience with their BSN program.
In the scheme of things, it really doesn't matter where you get your education--all that matters is what you do with it!!

Do whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?????? LOL that's funny - Iv'e been at TWU for 3 years now and I have yet to hear ANYTHING like THAT!!!!!!!! Nor have I ever even been given that impression - I'm at Parkland....
but that's funny. As far as negativity towards TWU, I havn't really heard anything negative either before I went in or since I started other than that they are disorganized to the nth degree - THAT I can agree with, but I think thats the case in any program that is overladed and striving to keep up with the changing times.

I've already noticed this even though I haven't started there yet! The director or something was all, "Now that you are in the BEST nursing program in Houston..blahblahblah".. I was like.. ooookay.

I am starting TWU Parkland campus in a couple of days and I am scared shutless. I heard it's hard, but then again they all are. They should be. Nursing isn't for the faint of heart.
When it came down to it, I got accepted to UTA and TWU for a BSN and El Centro for an ADN. I chose TWU because it seemed to be a better fit for me. The best thing you can do is talk to current students and faculty for whichever schools you are interested in and go with what feels right for you. Never ever believe in second-hand information - everyone has a different experience based on what they put into something.
Good luck in Nursing School!
