Texas Health Resources online application

I did the online app/attached resume for a nurse externship a few days ago (I also applied for two other positions just in case)... Anyways, I went online to check the status of the applications and the two PCT positions said "application received" and the nurse extern position says "route" (it had originally said "app received" as well, but now it has changed...)

Does anyone know what "route" means in relation to an onlne app? Im really hoping its a good sign, but who knows!

Thanks!

~~Rachel

In route means that the recruiters have received/reviewing your application, and if you qualify, they will refer your application to the hiring manager. It is a long process (30 days in some cases), and if you are applying for one of the larger hospitals they will not tell you the status of your application. If you are a Nursing student, it is best to contact that hospital directly and to apply in person. Also, for the extern positions, you must turn in your transcript (3.0 minimum) and 2 letters of recommendation. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I talked to the nurse recruiter a few days ago to see if there is anything else I can do to make myself a better candidate and she said that all I needed to do was the online app and send a resume...

I also emailed my clinical instructor from last fall (she is a med/surg unit manager who has been there for over 30 years, so I thought it couldnt hurt to enlist her help ) and she said that I should try to contact the ER nurse manager or nurse educator... I just dont want to bother random people that Ive never met... any thoughts on that? Do you think it would really be beneficial?

If the position you are applying for is likely to get a number of applicants then a phone call to the dept manager is in order or at LEAST a fax of your resume directly to the unit with a cover letter addressed to the unit manager - you would need the UM's name of course to address it to them. That's not bothering - that's doing your homework, taking some initiative and making sure your application actually gets pulled from the pile of hundreds.

I called on Friday to get the UMs name/fax number and I faxed her my cover letter/resume, so hopefully that will help...

Thanks for the info!

I just got hired at a THR facility, start orientation on 5/22 (am in my last semester of an accelerated BSN). I found the THR online application frustrating. I had problems with the computer accepting my responses, logging me out, etc. The HR person said that they are in the process of evaluating other programs for online apps, so that tells me that others might be having problems with it also.

PM me if you want to know more specifics of what I did to be successful.

Good luck,
