Texas GN permit processing time?? Relocating, please help!

I was hoping that someone who has applied for approval from the Texas BON to take the NCLEX might be able to answer a few questions for me. I'm from Minnesota and will be graduating in December. I recently landed a GN intern position down in Dallas area I am now looking at the process to be licensed in Texas so I could work as a GN starting in Janurary. I was shocked that you are supposed to apply 120 prior to graduation!

I did the online application today and paid the $139. I requested a FBI fingerprint card as well. I called the Texas BON to ask if I would be able to clear the background check and be approved by Janurary 4th (if I followed all the steps promptly). She responded by saying there is no way to know. I called someone else and they said that same thing :/ How long does this approval process usually take from start to finish? If I took this job (which is my dream job) and relocated, is it likely I would be in a situation where I would have no GN permit? I would appreciate any responses!! I really don't want to move 1000 miles away if I am going to end up jobless...

I can't remember exactly how long it took. But, i do remember that your school has to send your verification of graduation to the BON and then they will issue a GN permit. I graduated on August 14th, and it took about a week to get my GN permit and Nclex testing permit. If you don't get your GN permit within a week after graduating, you should call the BON and ask about your status. If they are missing anything it will hold up the process. You need to make sure your school sends your stuff as soon as they can and ask them to overnight it. Hope this helps!

I think by Jan u should have it. After graduation it depends how fast your school sends your stuff to the BON then it usually take about 1 week for u to get your ATT & GN if i'm not wrong both the ATT & GN permit comes about the same time. I paid my $139.00 on Mar 2nd, finger prints 4/6, 4/30 NCLEX registration, i got ATT 6/9. Our school sent our stuff one wk after graduation and 1 wk later we got out ATT and GN

Thanks for asking this question. I have also been curious and anxious about it.
