TEAS score required for TCCU Fort Worth

by Anil422

Hi all,

my wife just gave the TEAS test at TCCU. She got an overall score of 84.7 %.

She has a 82 pecentile in Science, 92 percentile in Math, 98 percentile in Reading and 71 percentile in English.

Are these scored (ccombined with a 3.33 GPA for pre-requisites) good enough to get into the nursing program?

I've love to find out how people that got accepted fared in the TEAS test and what their GPAs were.

My wife has a seat in a community college in Ohio and she's debating whether to go back to OH and claim her seat or wait till January of next year to see if she'll get into TCCU. She can't go this August as she has one Chemistry prerequisite to take at TCUU before she can apply to nursing.

Thanks.

Is she trying to get into TCC or TCU?

I took the TEAS at TCC last week. My scores are not quite that high, but I am not applying to the generic ADN program either. I have applied to the fast track but when I went to the TCC information session , the counselor was talking about people with 3.3 and 3.4 getting in and some as low as 2.7. So I really don't know it just depends on how many apply to the program. Yeah and you cannot apply to TCC with any course work in progress either so maybe she could apply for the spring semester. But to answer your question I have a 3.4 GPA , all my pre-classes done and applied to the fast track program. I think i got a 70.6 composite on that stupid test... Which has nothing to do with nursing....I'm a nurse for goodness sakes not a plant biologist!!!!!! Forgive the grammar....

My bad. I meant Tarrant County Community College. TCCC.

Ah, it's only TCC these days -- They dropped the 'community.'

I didn't apply to TCC, but I heard it's tough. This summer, I met someone who had all pre-reqs, was missing one co-req (Micro), had a 4.0 and was wait-listed. That's why I opted for a different school.

Good luck to her.

Yep, that was me that got waitlisted at TCC with a 4.0. I also finished with a 93 or somewhere real close to that on the TEAS. I know I was in the 98th percentile nationwide. So, I opted to go ahead and go to UTA and am very happy there. Tomorrow is the big first day in the hospital! I better go get some sleep!

Oh, my bad -- I guess I didn't 'meet' someone. I knew I'd heard about it though

How's it going at UTA? I have my hospital orientation next week!

It is extremely tough to be accepted into Tarrant County College's generic nursing program. It is so competitive that applicants don't stand a chance of getting admitted unless they have an overall GPA of 3.8, with 4.0 in the prerequisite classes.

Some applicants with 4.0 GPAs are waitlisted or even rejected because they still need to take a class.

I thought that counselor that was doing that information session was full of $hit!!! She was telling everyone that normal entrance GPA was something like 3.4....

She was right. I did NOT have a 4.0...in fact I think I had a 3.68 in my prereqs. I know people who came in with slightly lower gpa's than that. It's just competitive because of the number of people that apply. It's true though that if you have even one class left to finish, it hurts you because they work on a point system and you don't get any points for classes that are not completed. What one needs is a strong science gpa. The deal is that the competition is stiff EVERYWHERE. I've heard it's hard to get into any program in this area just because of the sheer numbers of people who are applying. I've got my fingers crossed for you Txspadequeen!! I'm a little jealous....I would have given my eye teeth to have skipped Foundations!! LOL!!! It really sucked!! And you're right, the TEAS test was pointless. I couldn't figure out why there was so much stinkin general biology on there. I can remember ONE chemistry question and like zero A&P questions. It was stupid indeed!!

I'm sure you girls at UTA are excited to be getting into the hospital!! It's just so cool. Over time you will start to feel like a real nurse and it's just the best feeling when you see that stuff you learn actually helps people.
