TCU accelerated program 2009

I'm in the same boat you are. Just curious...what is your degree in? I'm just wondering how many people that applied have some sort of medical background.

From what it sounds like we should hear something around March. My fingers are crossed...I really need this.

I have a BS in biology and an MS in environmental science...both completely useless degrees.

I'm pretty sure we won't hear anything until at least March. In fact, I found an old post from someone who didn't hear anything until April. I'm thinking they must have been a last minute addition to the program, though.

I am hoping that my science background gives me a little edge...but we'll see.

At this point, TCU is the only school I've applied to. I would have applied to UNT but I would have needed to have taken three classes at UNT. I'm considering applying at TCC...the deadline is Feb 28. However, I'm just not sure about getting an Associates in nursing. I've read several posts on here lately where people are having trouble finding nursing jobs right out of school. It seems that hospitals are wanting nurses with experience. I never in a million years would have thought that nurses would have trouble finding jobs. So I'm just wondering if people would be more inclined to hire a nurse with a BSN as opposed to a nurse with an AAS. On the other hand, I would much rather prefer to pay the tuition at TCC as opposed to TCU.

With that being said, if I get into TCU then I will be ecstatic. And I will just bite the bullet and pay the astronomical tuition and hope that I can find a job right out of school.

I've applied to the program and am also waiting to hear the outcome of my application. I too am expecting to hear something within the next two weeks. If I am accepted, my fear is being able to afford the program. I am a single mother of two who will have to go through the program completely on loans. I am afraid that I will not qualify for all the loans that I will actually need in order to continue supporting myself and my boys do to the fact that we are unable to work while completing the program.

I found some posts from a couple of years ago regarding the Accelerated BSN program and those people didn't get acceptance letters until late March. I think we still have a while to go!

acschott-Are you working right now? I don't have children so I can't speak from experience...but is there any way you could work part time? Probably not I'm guessing. Do you know if you will qualify for any grants? I'm not sure how that works but surely if you are single with children you would qualify for some kind of financial assistance aside from loans. With that being said, I'm pretty sure that they will loan you money to live on as well as money for tuition. I am still waiting on a tax form from a previous employer before I can update my financial aid info. I'm getting very nervous. I know what it feels like to worry not only about getting into the program...but also paying for it!
