TCC Accuplacer

Anyone else having to re-take the accuplacer b/c they've changed the math requirements? I took the accuplacer in 2004 (when I first started my pre-reqs). I failed the math portion so had to take Math 0304. Well if you havent heard yet - Math 0304 is now not going to work - your going to have to take math 0350 (i think that the #). UNLESS you re-take the accuplacer and score a high enough grade on the math that you are exempt from taking another math class.

I am going in tomorrow morning to take this. A little nervous, but not as nervous as I was taking the TEAS a couple weekends ago. I figure since I took the accuplacer 4 years ago and did well on everything (except the math) I will hopefully do well on everything again. Of course I remember nothing about this test - which is probably the main reason I'm nervous.

I took the accuplacer at TCC in 2006 and failed the math portion badly. Rather than retake the math portion of the accuplacer, I decided to enroll in the remedial math classes. After all, I realize that I am deficient in some very basic skills that should have been grasped in elementary school, such as integers and fractions.

This is true... I was in the same situation you were in. I am taking 0350 right now...I am struggling...I arm fine with math that may be involved with nursing (i.e. measurements, weight conversions, dosages, etc. )..but algebraic equations make me nauseous! Ugh...I just took the math portion of the accuplacer again and got a 20..you must get a 64 or above in order to have the math portion considered satisfactory. GOOD LUCK! There is stuff on that test that I have NEVER seen before! BTW..I know that 0350 doesn't affect your GPA, but do you think it would affect the selection process?
