Tarrant County Acceptance Letter

I know you get your acceptance letter for the upcoming semester (Spring 2010) before Thanksgiving but can anyone get more specific?
Also, I wonder how I match up w/ 2 A's and 2 B's in the sciences, a 3.522 gpa, and 86% science 51% math TEAS scores (72.9% overall score). Anyone?

I don't know about Tarrant, but I've never heard of a school that would take such a low math score.

My former coworker applied to TCC's nursing program in 2007 with a 4.0 grade point average in her prerequisite classes and high test scores, and was still rejected because many other applicants also had 4.0 averages with stellar test scores.

I also work with a night shift medication aide who is set to graduate from TCC's nursing program next month. He told me that his grade point average was a 3.5 and all of his test scores were high. So you never know. I just know that TCC is one of the most competitive nursing programs to get admitted into if you are planning on attending school in the DFW area.

Good luck to you!

Thanks, I guess i'll know soon enough. I'm slightly confused though. According to the grade printout I received my science score was above average for the nation and in my program. For math it says I scored about average nationally and just a little lower than others in my program. People I took the test with told me they did about the same as me. I also was also told that 50% in either category was a pretty normal score.

It's just too competitive at TCC, I don't think that will get you in. I'm sorry, just the truth here. I honestly think that the reason they're so tough is because it's a very tough program, we only graduated with half our original class. If you can't make the grades in the beginning, how will you get through their program??? Seriously, I had to work three times as hard to pass or just not get a C in nursing as I did to get A in the prereqs.

I had 3.85 GPA, all As except one B in science and one in English. Teas score was 89%.

Well, I appreciate your honesty. I actually thought I was most likely a borderline applicant but after the last few posts it seems like I should probably give up hope of receiving a large package in the mail. So, for the application for next semester do you think if I improved my teas scores that would help? I have all A's and B's and honestly most of the B's are from 10 years ago before I was attempting to get into nursing and realized they would count for anything. I wonder if I should retake classes also?

I would set my sights on the outlying nursing programs that require a commute and have slightly less strenuous requirements. Hill College (Cleburne), North Central Texas College (Gainesville), Weatherford College, UTA, TCU, Southwestern Adventist (Keene), Trinity Valley (Kaufman), and other schools would offer more hope.

Many people whine and say, "I don't want to drive too far!" However, a few rejections from their nursing program of choice will often change their tunes.
