Surround area schools and Grayson Community College...


Hi all!

Since most if not all the schools in the immediate DFW area are extremely competitive I'm starting to look beyond the city limits *sigh*. Could anyone tell me what the acceptance rate of Grayson Community College is as well as some other schools in the surrounding DFW area?

Can't tell you what their acceptance rate is, but when I entered the program in 05 we started with 121 and there were at least 30 on the waiting list to get in.

They go by a point system, it's competitive but worth it.

I don't know their acceptance rate, but I have heard it is generally easier to get into than the ones in DFW. However, I have heard great things about Grayson's nursing school!

As a recent Grayson graduate, I do not know the rate, but they have change the policy to were they are accepting in the fall and spring. Grayson County College is an excellent school, they have great profressor, who really care and prepare for the adventures of nursing

Grayson's LVN program last year had something like 250-350 applicants and only 70 were accepted. I do believe that they did enlarge the class to 80 this year. Do keep in mind, tho, that out of the 70 that were accepted, only 49 of us graduated.

I wouldn't say that it's "easier" to get into Grayson, because it's not. I just started the ADN program there in August and there is 60 in my class. I heard there was over 450 applicants, but not sure if that is accurate or not (just what I heard.) I absolutely love the professors so far. They act like they actually care about you and they take the time to explain everything if you are having problems with a concept. I definitely recommend GCC by far.

As a former employee of GCC and recent Nursing School grad, I would say that 450 applicants is about right.

I think it's great that they decided to add a spring class to the Nursing Program. I hear that they have a plan in the works to accept 100 to each semesters roll before too long. If so that will be a definite plus to the nursing profession!

Does Grayson have LVN programs start in both spring and fall? Anybody know how many applicants? What was the lowest points accepted into the program?

The reading part NET test is the biggest factor in their point system. I just got in with a 79 on my reading, but they say they take high 50's low 60's. I was told there were about 300 applicants for 80 spots. No they do not have a spring admission into the LVN program (at least not at Van Alstyne).
