Student wanting to relocate to Houston

by ejm8984

Im a LPN student at a technical college in Louisiana wanting to move to Houston. I wanna purchase a foreclosed house while I have the opportunity to take advantage of it due to the economy, but Im trying to decide if I should stay here another year in Louisiana and complete the PN program, then move and take a chance on the housing market, or should I move now and just transfer to a community/ technical college out there for LVN? Please help me...

My advice is to stay in Louisiana to complete your LPN program, then move to Texas.

Sorry, but the housing market probably isn't going to change anytime soon, so there's no need to rush into a depreciating asset. People seem to think that once housing reaches a "bottom," that real estate will suddenly spring back up.

During the last real estate downturn of the late 1980s and early 1990s, housing stayed at the "bottom" for 5 years. You're young (age 22), so I wonder why you'd invest in an illiquid capital trap such as a house at this point in your life.
