Statistics at Tarrant County College

Can anyone recommend a good professor for statistics at Tarrant County College (South or Southeast campus)? Math is my most difficult subject, and I would really like to find a professor that is patient and willing to answer questions if you have them. Also, did you feel like Algebra was more or less difficult than statistics? I will be taking Algebra and Statistics both this semester. Am I insane for doing this? I haven't taken a math class since
1989, but I would really like to finish these two courses. They are not required for TCC's nursing program, but I would like to get them out of the way since I want to get my BSN as soon as I finish my RN. Sorry for all the questions, but I'm very nervous about taking this class. Thanks.

I just finished up statistics online, and I would not suggest my class. One of the El Centro nursing instructors teaches statistics at TCC. Let me see if I can find her last name.

you might want to look at RateMyProfessors.com - Professor Reviews and Ratings. i always check that website before i register for classes to see how people feel about my teachers.

I had Ms. Tucker. She was pretty good.

They have a specialized text for TCC that a lot of instructors use. I happen to have one for sale if you or anyone you know needs it. It was $100 new and the bookstore is no longer buying texts back that have/had internet codes. Ms. Tucker offers the needed codes to her students every semester though, so it seems like a new bookstore scam. UGH Anyhow, if you need the book and are interested in used I am more than happy to make you a great deal.

All of Tucker's classes are full, but I will keep an eye out to see if an opening comes up. I have checked ratemyprofessor.com, but the majority of professors that are listed on the schedule for statistics are not on there except for one or two negative ratings. The only professor that I have heard much about is Haley at the South campus, and she is supposed to be really good, but her class is full as well. I had not planned on taking statistics, but I thought about it and decided to go ahead and get it out of the way. Since I already have a degree, I'm not elegible for financial aid at TCC and have to pay out of my pocket, so I want to be sure and get a good professor because I really don't want to have to repeat any classes. Thanks for your advice. I will keep a watch to see if anyone drops Tucker's classes. Thanks.

Hmmmm...I can't for sure remember who I had. Tucker does sound vaguely familiar though. I did take it online and I think the only instructor who taught it that way was from SE campus. I went in for a couple of extra tutoring sessions and she was really nice and helpful. I took it in the Spring of 05 though so they might have someone else in there now.

If you can, sign up for Joseph Williams (SE Campus). I had him for College Algebra but I know he mentioned teaching statistics as well. He is a Middle School math teacher so he knows how to go slowly and really make sure you understand. I LOVED him!

I had Ms. Tucker. She was patient and very thorough. I think she used to teach high school.

Mclennan community college in Waco has an online math statistics class that I just finished taken. I loved the teacher. You could redo the homework problems as many times needed to make an 100 on the assignments. The test problems are very similar to the homework. You do not have to buy a book, only access to the website (around 45.00??) You do have to go to campus to take the final, which she gave you 10 extra points for doing the review homework. I just wanted to thank all of you for your advice. I have signed up for the class at the Southeast campus. Tucker's class is full and Joseph Williams isn't teaching it this semester, so I signed up for Costello. I did see that somebody posted a glowing report about her on ratemyprofessor.com, so that offers me some relief, but I'm still a little nervous about it. Thanks again for all your advice.
