Sonography Help

I was hoping someone here may be able to give me some advice. I know this is a nurse forum but I have read some of you nurses come from the sonography field. Hope you don't mind me butting in...

My goal is to be accepted into the Lonestar Cy Fair DMS program. OB is my passion & ultimate goal. Has anyone attended or have any helpful hints to be a competetive applicant. I am currently taking my PreReq's and working to raise my GPA (I have a previous 50hrs not in the medical field)

Thanks for any advice and Congrats to all you starting programs this yr...

this does not answer your question but a friend and I both started nursing together and she decided she wanted to change her goal. she just finished up and is now a sonographer...She LOVES it....Good luck on your journey your will do great!!!

Just remember those programs are just as competitive if not more competitive than nursing schools. She applied to several in Texas and Oklahoma before being accepted and Physics was a requirement for most school YUCK lol no offense to those of you who like physics its just not for me!....GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately right now applying to multiple schools is not an option for me. Even Cy Fair is about 1 hr commute (in flowing traffic) LoL, but I know in my heart it will be soo worth it. I am 26 now so I am going to try my hardest to do as much as I can to enhance my application to be accepted. There are 5 prereq's and so far A&P1, A&P2, and Engl are A's. I have to take Physics & College Algebra now & work hard for my A's too. Since I have no exp. I am going to call @ to volunteer & am debating whether to apply to the CNA program to earn that credential, wondering if it will make a difference.

Thanks again for the words of encouragement!!! I am excited!
