San Jac Uniform Question

by Tonks

Hi all, I trying to find out what the requirement is on shoes worn to clinicals. Just trying to get a heads up as I'm hoping to apply for fall admission. Thanks.

I cannot help you because I am starting at Cy Fair College in two weeks, but I wanted to tell you that we have to wear all white shoes. I am having a hard time finding stores that carry a large enough selection for me to try them on. I don't want to order online because I need to feel them first. Does anyone know of a good place in Houston with a large variety of nursing shoes?????

I just graduated from San Jac on dec. 14th. The requirement is all white shoes, almost everyone wore just white tennis shoes . A few wore z-coils but there where not that many and Crocs can not be worn, they have to have a closed back to them .

SAS carries a nice white supportive shoe. Very comfortable. Worth the money. I know, they look like old lady shoes - but you will find when you are working you need comfort - not fashion statements.

Thanks everyone. After reading all the great reviews here, I was hoping I could wear crocs, but I had a feeling they weren't allowed. I guess I'll try to find some all-white skechers.

I found some New Balance that filled the requirements and lasted forever. I graduated in '05 and have been wearing them to work since. I think it's finally time for some new ones.

Just an FYI: when it comes to nursing, for me, sketchers just didn't cut if for me. My feet hurt whenever I wore those to work.

I bought a pair of Dansko shoes online for $100 without trying them on........see where this is going? Anyway, Walmart sells all white Dr. Scholl's for $20 and they were quite comfy.

Question San Jac Shoes Question
It's time to purchase shoes to start my very first clinical after Spring Break. We are told that we must wear NURSING shoes. Just doing a pre-search online to see what's out there, I have seen shoes that are labeled Nursing shoes that look like regular tennis shoes, and there are some that look like "old granny" shoes, and there are some that look kind of "hip" and feminine. Aside from just going to the available stores that carry them and trying them on for comfort, what look exactly is San Jac asking for when they say they must be NURSING shoes?

In my humble opinion, after working in health care and as a nurse for 3 years----SAS is so well worth the money....... and I have a closet full of NIKe,etc that I no longer wear------- SAS are the best I ever bought and there are some new styles. Give then a try, your feet and back will thank you!
