ranking of tx nursing schools?

Just wondering, not that it's that important, but does anyone know the rankings of the tx nursing schools (which tx nursing schools are the best)? From what i gather, here's what i think:

1.) UT-Austin (pretty sure)
2.) UT-Houston?
3.) UTMB??
4.) Texas women's university???
5.) UTHSCSA (no clue)

I have actually always heard that TCC ranks near the top or towards the very best. Texas Woman's and UTA are always the ones I hear about next.... HTH

I'm not sure why you would want to know if a ranking of Texas nursing schools for other than pride and/or ego boost... Are you looking for ranking by cost of program (best bang for your buck), NCLEX pass-rate, least drop-out rate, highest new graduate salary, prestige, all-around?

i am simply curious. like how i said in my original post, it's not that important b/c the nclex pass rate in tx is higher than the national average. as far as the ego boost/pride is concerned, i am in the process of applying so it's not like i am at ut-austin and i think that that school is the best.

Hey tea, I pulled the info from the BNE website. There is data for several years back that you can hash through yourself, but I'll post the schools that had a 90% or greater pass rate on the NCLEX-RN in BSN programs (since it looks like that's what you're asking about, and if I recall correctly, you already have another degree).

For 2007, in order
1) UTMB 2) SFA 3) Prairie View 4) UT Austin 5) UT El Paso 6) Lamar University (Beaumont) 7) A&M International 8) Houston Baptist 9) TWU 10) UT Tyler 11) UT Arlington 12) UT Pan American 13) West Texas A&M
(FYI, UTHSC Houston had an 88.24% pass rate, and UTHSCSA was 86.15%)

For the last 3 years, the top 5 based on AVERAGE pass rate (my calculations, not the BNE's):
1) Prairie View 2) UT Austin 3) HBU 4) A&M Corpus 5) A&M International
- UTMB was 6th, UTHSC Houston was 16th out of 16 with a 90%+ avg, UTHSCSA avg was 86.73%, TWU was #8

Some of these stats were pretty surprising to me. Of course we know averages can be misleading sometimes. It's probably best, if you really want to know the stats, to actually look at them yourself. They have pass rates from 2002-2007 on the site.

It looks like TWU stats include both locations, so it would be interesting to see how those break down.

And no, I don't really have the free time to be doing this. <insert an eye rolling emoticon here>

Oh, and just as a disclaimer, YES I know that pass rates don't mean everything and there are many other factors to take into consideration. It's just one way to look at the schools. I'd be happy to get into any of these schools. It can help, however, if you're lucky enough to get into more than one and can't make your mind up on which school to choose.

Also, US News and World Report has rankings of nursing schools, and they use multiple factors I believe, but not all of these schools are on there, and there are a ton outside of Texas. Its a lot to wade through.

HTH tea and others curious about this.

While there are certainly other factors to consider, I do feel the NCLEX pass-rate is a decent representation regarding the quality of teaching and how well the school prepared students.

I have to disagree- many of the universities are moving towards using exit exams to ensure that they have high pass rates. A school might have a 100% NCLEX pass rate but perhaps failed a significant percentage of their graduating seniors. Pass rates don't indicate anything. Just my
