questions about houston/katy area hospitals

hi all, i am new to the forum. i am considering a move to katy and wondered what the job situation is like there for an lpn of 15 years experience ? the hospital i work for currently is applying for magnet status, so my days here as an lpn are numbered, they will only hire rns ...is it the same in texas? thanks for any replies ! :wink2:

While there are only a couple of hospitals in Katy itself, Katy isn't that far from the Texas Medical Center, which includes tons of healthcare facilities. I'm sure an LVN would be able to find a position somewhere without too much difficulty.

I'm in Katy. There are only 2 of us LVNs left on the day shift, but many at night. Most of the LVNs are in school trying to get their RN. Most of the new hires are RNs. Some without experience, but they have the sacred "R-N" behind their name- but that's a whole other topic ) Katy Memorial will be opening their facility in Dec (I think). I know they have LVNs that work there but not sure about their hiring policy regarding hiring new LVNs.
