Please help my mother out! (Florida or Texas)

My mother recently got a position as an RN at Brandon Regional in Tampa, FL. Her pay here is $28 + $3 shift differential (evenings). Her friends in Houston keep telling her that nurses with a lot of experience make more money over there.

Due to some rather unique circumstances, my Mom needs to make the decision before the end of the night. I was wondering if some of you could help me and my Mom with this decision. Is the pay in Houston, Tx a lot higher than in Tampa, Fl? My mother has over 25 years OR experience.

Any advice would be sincerely appreciated. What are the differences in salary between these two cities?

I can only speak for Ft.Worth. The rates here aren't too much different than the Tampa rates. If she worked PRN she could possibly secure about 32.00/hour...but that is without benefits, PTO,etc.

And plus......Houston ? That is like the armpit of Texas: hot, sweaty and stinky. No offense. The outlying suburbs are nice, but the major medical district downtown is quite a commute.

Housing is probably cheaper in TX depending on where you want to live

Houston isn't an armpit - its a lot like Florida! LOL
