Plaza Medical Center in Ft.Worth

Can anyone tell me about Plaza Medical Center? I will be having my clinicals there when I start nursing school this fall, and I have never heard of that hospital. Has anyone had clinicals there or worked there? I'm just curious about it. Is it large/small? Private or County? Pleasant environment? Anyway, I'm excited about finally starting school this fall, and I'm just dying to know everything. Thanks.

I've never worked there. They have a history of pretty outrageous sign-on bonuses and hiring campaigns that really give off the impression of being very desperate....above and beyond the intermittent 2-3K bonuses offered by other area hospitals.

I have a friend who just completed a school clinical there and she said it was ok.

Plaza is one of your larger hospitals in the hospital district. Actually now that I think about all the hospitals down there it very well may be the smallest of them..Cause you have Harris , Cooks, All-Saints (Baylor) DT and JPS. Anyway, I have never worked there but they do offer generous sign on bonuses and they have a good winter plan. I have heard some say they work ya to death the others say it's ok. When I worked in a OB/GYN clinic I would make rounds with my doc at Plaza and everyone seemed nice , of course this was years ago. Your county Hospital is JPS and if you really want some experience that is where you need to go. I trained there though their nursing school and you see everything. Don't pass up the opportunity to do clinicals there. Good luck to you!!!

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to get clinicals in Arlington since it is closest to me or JPS if I wasn't able to get Arlington. I'm just excited to be going anywhere, though. I'm glad to learn anything about Plaza since I've never heard of the hospital before. What hospital is DT? Where is it located? I don't think that is one of the places that TCC does clinicals. Also, what is a winter plan? Maybe I won't be quite as ignorant after this fall semester. I really appreciate the info. Thanks!

I was at Plaza for the spring semester. I liked it. There is a lot of griping amongst the nurses for short staffing constantly. But there was a lot of good opportunities to watch procedures, have great nurses go over procedures (IV, catheter's, etc).

All Saints (Baylor) DT = Baylor All Saints Down Town.

TCC goes to all the hospitals downtown for clinicals.

Who do you have for theory and clinicals?

I am at Baylor for Adult this Fall and JPS for Psych starting in July.

Thanks so much for the info. I'm really excited to hear from someone who has done clinicals there and liked it. I have Bass for clinicals and theory. Do you know her? I'm glad to hear that you get to go to other places for clinical as well. I think it would be great to experience as many hospitals as possible, and I had been wondering if I would be at the same hospital for most semesters. Anyway, I would love to hear any info, advice, etc. you have to share about anything(professors, clinicals, the hospital, studying, etc.). Also, I hope we will get to meet once school starts. Do the nursing students get to know the students from most of the classes ahead of them and behind them? Thanks again!
