Nursing schools in dallas / Ft Worhth

I am a TCC graduate (May 09), and of course my opinion is that TCC is the best school on your list. TCC has a GREAT reputation in the metroplex, I had a wonderful experience and feel very prepared having just finished my first week and a half orientation at my new job. I would NOT recommend Weatherford, though. just heard lots of not so good things..I had a professor at TCC that actually helped start the Weatherford program and she left after it got kinda rocky. She never came out and said it, but she basically thought the program was bad (and she was my BEST and most experienced instructor, very reputable). As for the others, I cannot really say. My mom is an amazing nurse with 25 years of experience and URGED me to go to TCC. she always precepted students and said over and over again that TCC students were exceptional and looked highly upon. In the Fort Worth area, your best bet is TCC. hope that helps!

Hello - I am currently a Weatherford College ADN student and looking forward to starting my second semester this fall. I have absolutely nothing but great things to say about the program! They had a rocky past but that was a long time ago. The current director has been in place for 5 years and the program is running very smoothly and successfully. For the last 2 years, they have had a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX. My suggestion is to look into all the application criteria, find a school that you want to go, and then work towards acceptance. I know from my application experience that the DFW nursing schools all have slightly different acceptance policies. By that, I mean that they base your acceptance differently. For example, TCC ranks by GPA, then by test scores, etc. Where as, Weatherford College allots points for certain categories (i.e. points for certain GPA, points for test scores, points for pre-req's, etc) and your total points is where you compete in line against the pool of applicants. So while I am quite partial to my school, I would have to suggest that you look into each one and then work toward their criteria. But to say a few wonderful things about WC's program: the professors LOVE what they do - they sacrifice their own time & energy to benefit the student's education, the director is consistently concerned about meeting students' desires to continue improving the program, and the classes tend to be smaller, which in turn, has created a great camaraderie among my fellow students.In reference to your question regarding the online A&P II class, I had this class the old school lecture/lab way but I have to confess that it demanded so much learning on my part that, in fact, it only benefited me once I started the ADN program. I am not familiar with how the online class works, but I would have to say, take every advantage and opportunity that you have to learn the information now, as it will only benefit you in the future.

I am currently taking prerequisites @ TCC with a hopeful entrance around Spring or Fall 2011.

Weatherford has really stepped it up in past years. Their NCLEX pass rate for the past 3 years is better than TCC.
