Ken...you keep starting threads about DFW/Texas. Are you just trying to stir the pot, or are you really going to move here? Just do it already!

Here is how I judge the Dallas Economy.

How many cranes they have working in downtown Dallas building sky scrapers.

At the moment they have many.

Also I see tons of new business and warehouses being built around Dallas.

So the economy is still kicking pretty good here.

I agree, my husband is in construction equipment rentals and they talk all the time about how DFW has escaped the recession. Sure, jobs have slowed down but we are faring better than most.

I do understand, and I don't mean to offend, but you posted this same question on 12-16-08 (see below). And that's not the first thread you've started about nursing in the Dallas/DFW area. Sometimes (from this perspective) it's frustrating to see the same things posted again and again.

To answer your questions...a few hospitals have had some lay-offs, but they've been small & did not involve direct-care, bedside nurses (to my knowledge). I still see positions available all over DFW in every Sunday paper. Otherwise, the national news has reported that our area has, so far, fared pretty well in the recession.
