new RN in San Antonio from Philippines

hi everyone, will be living in San Antonio soon, im a newly graduate nurse from the Philippines, no professional clinical experience yet, will take the NCLEX RN soon... i just want to think ahead and know where, when and what are the things i need to do to get settled in the new place...

got tons of concern since im new to everything... but if you can answer a few for me, would be great and will help me to think of my first moves...

1. when i pass the NCLEX and apply for a job, are all hospitals accepting entry level nurses? and what are the programs they offer for entry level nurses? any hospitals u know who gives good training for entry level nurses? and how long will be the training ((estimate?))

2. how much does an entry level nurse receives in the area??

3. can i work in the hospital setting while waiting for my license? if i can, what kind of job can i qualify for?

any suggestions for a newly grad immigrant nurse in any possible aspect would be very much appreciated...

thanks...

Hello. Yes all the hospitals in San Antonio hire new grads with no experience. You can pretty much apply to work any unit. Depending on what specialty you go into, generally orientation for new grad's are about 12-16 wks long. Most new RN's in San Antonio start off between $19-$21/hr. You may work for them using your GN permit while waiting to take your N-CLEX. If you have any specific questions let me know, I just moved from San Antonio last month. Good Luck in your job search.
