Re: New Lpn, Military wife, Moved to fort hood. HELP!
Since the state of New Jersey is not a part of the Nurse Licensure Compact, you will need a Texas license in order to work here. There are no military loopholes that I am personally aware of at this time.
By the way, Texas refers to their basic nurses as LVNs (licensed vocational nurses). Once you receive your Texas license, your official job title will change from "LPN" to "LVN."
The endorsement process does not take very long. I moved to Texas from California, and it took about 5 weeks to endorse my California LVN license into Texas. Just be prepared to pay the fees and sign a bunch of paperwork in front of a notary public.
Good luck to you, and welcome to Texas.
