new GN looking for a job in Houston

by sicemj

I graduate tomorrow from my accelerated BSN program and am desperately looking for a job in Houston.

Anyone out there think they can put me in contact with the people with the power? It appears that my endless applications are going unnoticed and based on my classmate's experiences it seems that you've gotta know someone to get a foot in the door.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated!

sicemj,

Are you currently in Houston?

I know how frustrating it is to encounter the 'automated' application systems. It seems like they are designed to prevent contact with actual human beings, doesn't it?

Suggestion -avoid Medical Center hospitals and focus instead on suburban facilities. Med Center facilities are inundated with new grads. Slots are usually filled in advance by students who have had clinical rotations in those facilities.
