Need this answered.....

I am currently seeking a school to become a cna. There is a place in Dallas called Hearts in Training. I am a tad bit curious because they don't require any shots at all and they refuse to give me the cost of tuition over the phone?? It makes no sense to me. The only thing I like about them is it only takes 4 weeks to become an aide..... Should I pursue this school further or go pay UTA $1200 to certify me and get all these shots? Does anyone know how much Hearts in Training costs? Thanks for your help in advance!

Uhhhhhh why would you pay this much to become a CNA if you did not have to.... Have you looked into Dunbar High schools program? It is cheap and they do not require immunizations (I don't think)..

Yes I had learned about Dunbar yesterday and called to ask about immunizations but it's a recording. I guess I just show up August 6th and find out if they require them or not.....

I know many people (MANY) that have went through Dunbar and its cheap and good. They turn out good CNA's and know there stuff. Unless they have changed the classes were Tues and Thur nights from like 6-9 or something like that. My friend went about a year ago and it cost here $145 (approx) for the course. I have recommended this to many people on here and know there are several threads on this. DO a search I bet you find more detailed info....good luck

Bookwirm,

Just to clarify - the reason immunizations are required is for protection (yours & the patients) in the clinical setting. This is a requirement for ALL clinical training programs. Just imagine if your grannie got chickenpox from a student -- NOT GOOD

Have you tried local nursing homes. We are a long way from you, but we have CNA classes 2 times yearly and don't charge at all if you work for us 6 months after. The class is 2 weeks then you test within the next month. You are paid while taking the class...at a lower than CNA wage but only allowed to do what has been taught as far as patient care. You might check it out. We just finished a class and they test August 5th. Our next class is in October.
