Moving from VA to TX

Once I graduate and am an LPN in VA, i will be moving to TX. I will need to declare TX as my home state and have to transfer my license there (yes, it is a compact state, but you have to have a license that is in your state of residence). Has anyone gone through this? It says you only have 30 days to transfer your license once you move and declare the new state, what if it takes longer? Please help me, I'm nervous! -BRIAN
