lost in texas

by cat1804

Hi all,

I'm a third year student nurse in England and would love to spend my three week elective placement in texas. As i've never been there before i'm not sure where to look and their are some many lovely places. Any suggestion that you think would be worth considering would be much appreciated. I'm planning on coming over to you in October.

P.s Just wondering, what's the weather like in october?

Well, first of all, I live on the coast, near the Louisiana border. It is not too big or too small, there are several medium sized hospitals here. The one I work at is a brand new hospital with all the latest technology. The weather in October is pretty nice, still fairly warm, but not near as hot as summer time. We usually get our first little cool spell of the fall in October. I also love the Texas Hill country, around Austin, it's a beautiful area, and you have a wide options of Hospitals to choose from. If you're looking for a great teaching/learning environment, then I would say The Medical Center in Houston is the way to go, there are lots of opportunities to learn alot of different things there. There are also several nice towns around Houston and you could commute into the Medical Center. Good luck to you!!

oooo, I love, love the Hill Country in Texas. I live near Houston but we travel to there every summer and float down the river. October will be too cold to float but in New Braunfels they have the Wurstfest in November. Check it out :http://www.wurstfest.com/

There are tons of small town festivals during the winter around Texas.
