Re: Lone Star Kingwood 2010
Again, this is me all over! I also have test anxiety I found out recently. I can not stress enough to not OVER THINK the reading part!!! There are NO hiddent messages, everything you need is right there in the text! When reading, take it up a notch as far as reading speed. When reading the passages multiple times, it causes you to over analyze and cause you to also look for something that is NOT THERE!
The week of the test I did exactly everything I ever heard to do to prepare for a test like the hesi and I really think that everything helped. For example, a couple nights before the test, I was in bed with my eyes closed by 10:30pm.

The night before, make sure you know if you don't already, exactly how to get to the school and where to go when you get there! Room number, etc. The morning of the test, I woke up early enough to not be in a rush to get ready, drive there, and allotted extra time in case something came up, which it did. There was an accident on the way there (my luck). On the way, I stopped at smoothie king and got a big fruit filled smoothie, drank on the way there and during the test. They tell you to have a full tummy bc of hunger being a huge distraction! And God knows the anxiety is enough! Same as looking at the clock = distraction! Bringing my "breakfast" in with me also prevented me from getting hungry or even thinking about food! They don't say breakfast is the most important meal of the day for nothing! Think of anything that may be a distraction the day of the test, and try to find a solution for the what if's.
I didn't do any of these things the two times before and did very poorly!

So I truly believe that these things helped a lot! Try it, you may find that it has worked for you too! Good Luck!!!!! Let me know how it goes. Stay calm, your going to do great. Don't be pessimistic...sp. Go in there knowing you are going to do just fine.

Keep me updated!
