Licenses expiration

I recently passed my boards and My licenses expires in less than a yr. I looked up some other people who graduated with me and most of theirs expire in 2 yrs. Why does mine expire so fast???

Your renewal date corresponds with your birthday. People who were born in odd numbered years (1971, 1965, 1983, etc.) will always renew during odd numbered years (2009, 2011, etc.) around the time of their birth month. People who were born during even numbered years will always renew during other even numbered years (2010, 2012, etc.).

I would actually disagree with that statement...I was born in an even number year and I renew in an odd number year. That idea you present may not be true for all states

When I graduated, here in MI, all our licenses were only good for one year then we had to renew. My understanding at that time is that was the way it was. If you really want a good answer, call your BON and find out their rationale. Congratulations on your license.

My statement is true and accurate regarding licensees who practice nursing in the state of Texas. After all, this is the Texas Nurses forum, so I am conjecturing that the original poster lives and works in Texas. If he/she is a nurse in Texas, them my statement would definitely apply to this person.

I never once stated that the renewal process is the same for all states.
