Lastest News For Hcc Adn Program

Hi everyone, there has been a new system update for hcc adn program. Before one can get into the program. one has to take the Hesi test. A friend told me about this because her husband works at hcc, but i wanted to be sure so i called the adn department myself, and I was told that as long as you have not been accepted into the program you have to take the test. This information has not been posted yet, because it was effective last week friday, the 21st. I even asked them that what if you already have a degree, but they said everyone will have to take it. Thought i should give you all a head start.

I am not sure but i think you still have to take the Hesi test, because their requirement for the program was to have either the Act/Sat exam or have a degree. I have a degree in art from Hcc and I still have to take the Hesi.

Thanks for the information Betty. Can you give me some insight as to what the HESI test is? I did some research online and I don't understand how one could take the HESI before having any nursing classes. Doesn't it test one's critical thinking skills with nursing material? Thanks.

The Hesi test is just like the Net test but it is called Hesi instead. I took it before at Kingwood college and it includes basic maths like fractions, decimals, add, subtraction, percents, and division. and reading. Another reminder if you have not taken pharmarcology, you need to email the nursing dept to register you because it fills up really fast.I just emailed them today and they have sent me the list of classes available to register for. Goodluck

HESI is the name of a testing company that offers nursing entrance exams, nursing exit exams, and specialty assessment exams. So 9 times out of 10 when someone refers to the HESI on this message board, they are talking about the exit exam. In this situation though, it sounds like the HESI entrance exam (which measures skills in math, vocabulary, reading comprehension, etc - as opposed to applied nursing knowledge) is actually what the school requires for admission.

Thanks for the reminder. I emailed them a few days ago. I asked for the Tu/Wed class that is 1:00 - 3:30. Did you sign up for the same one? I have already ordered and recieved my books. I am going on vacation and wanted to get them before I left. :studyowl: + :studyowl: = :mortarboard:
