How many times did you apply before being accepted??

All i have heard since I started taking classes is how hard it is to get accepted and that you need to make almost a 4.0 to get in. SO, how many times did you have to apply to the BSN programs in Texas, which one did you get into, and what was your GPA?? THANKS!

Also, who has gotten into an accelerated second degree program for nursing???

I got accepted to TWU-H the first time I applied and I don't even remember my GPA. I think the cutoff for that semester was 3.76 though.

I was accepted the first time - praise God - because there is only one school for me to go to and I could not apply anywhere else!

My undergrad GPA was a 3.4 and my graduate GPA was 3.8
I got into TAMUCC's College Station program.

The best thing you can do is apply to as many places as you are willing to go. Good luck!

It took me 3 times. In Austin there are a ton of people and very limited openings. I had a 3.7, but with the wait they use a formula to figure out a ranking system based on GPA, a HESI test, how many core-requisites, and credit hours. The only good thing about having to wait was it allowed me to lighten my load through ADN program by getting some core-reques. out of the way. I am in now so it's all down hill.

I got in the first try into the ADN program at MC. My gpa was a 4.0 but my school does not just go by the gpa....they also figure in your hesi entrance exam and how many classes you have complete toward the degree (in other words you have to complete ALL of the non-nursing class in order to be accepted). Good Luck

Don't worry about the 4.0 GPA. That is not the most important criteria, in my opinion. I applied to 2 BSN accelerated programs and was accepted to both. My GPA overall was around 3.5 and my nursing science GPA was 3.8.
I interviewed with people who had 4.0 GPA and they didn't get in. I think the interview and your overall attitude, your support system (financial and family) are most important. Most nursing professors know what type of people make the best nurses and I don't think 4.0 GPA is one of those characteristics. If you happen to have a 4.0 and meet all the other requirements, then all the better. Good grades are important, and Perfect grades do not always equal the best fit for the particular program you are applying. Best of Luck.

I only applied to oen school, Stephen F Austin. I innitially didnt get in, but then did as an alternate. my gpa was 2.8. It wasn't bcuz thats the best I could do, I was just stupid and didnt feel like going to class during some of my pre reqs. But once I got into nursing school, everything's been fine, and I'm graduating in december

I think things are more competitve in the larger areas. I called around in the Dallas area, and it takes a 3.8 GPA on classes that count towards the program. In Houston, it takes a 3.7 GPA.

Just check at the schools you are willing to attend. Good luck!
