Houston Medical Center

Hi all!
My husband and I (both RNs) are going to be relocating to the Houston area from Galveston this fall. We are looking for any suggestions, pros/cons, etc of working in the various hospitals in the Medical Center. I know the pay is better than here at UTMB, but how is the work environment? Also, any suggestions for areas with good school districts? Anyone working for Memorial Hermann in Katy? Thanks so much for your help!
-Sarah

Default Re: Houston Medical Center
i've been working at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (located in the heart of the med center) since i've gotten my RN license (6 yrs ago). the benefits are great and the pay is competitive. the best thing is that they are very supportive of their nurses... lots of resources, less patient load, less nurse burnt out, high nursing retention...

a majority of the nurses are truly happy here.
