SO I'm hoping that there will be more job openings this time next year! But I wouldn't mind working somewhere outside the TMC. I know a new grad told me about a year ago that it's tough being a new grad and finding a job, b/c if it's slow they send YOU home and not the experienced nurse. So she said that she had alot of PRN jobs and so she keep herself busy with those jobs just to get the experience under her belt the first year or so! So, Maybe MANY PRN jobs can help you get your foot in?
Your best bet would to get a patient care tech job at one of the hospitals that tend to hire new grads. If, by the time you graduate, there are still slim pickings, you would be in a prime position to land the GN job because you are already established within the hospital.

Next year's market will likely be far superior to this year's. Not only will the economy be better, many current hospital construction projects are finishing in late 2009 - early 2010 and will be hurting for staff.
