HCA Grow Your Own ADN program

Hello! I wanted to know if there is anyone out there going through EL Centro/ HCA's grow your own ADN program. I currently work for HCA and I finish my pre-req's next semester. I wanted to know if the program is worth signing my first 2-3 working years to HCA.

I am planning to do the El Centro ADN program & am looking for a job that will pay for school. I interview with Medical City tomorrow morning. What is your job at HCA?

As far as I know, you can use the HCA money but apply directly to El Centro; it is much harder to get in that way, but is an option.

You can get in faster at HCA because they let in 10 students every sememester. I just wanted to know if it was worth it because you have to work for them after you graduate. You do have to apply to el centro but then you are taken out of el centro's pool of students and placed in HCA's pool of students. HCA only has the program at LMC and LCMC so it shouldn't be that hard to get in.

Right now I work at private pratice within HCA and my school will be paid for but if I don't know if I should apply to el centro for HCA's program or el centro's program.

Other locations are involved too. I tutor a student who just made it to second semester that works at Green Oaks.

Good Luck!

I work at MCA and just got accepted into the HCA/TCC program. So far, from what we have heard, it sounds like a good program. We only have class one day a week and clinical one day a week. WE get paid for the 8 hour class day, and only have to work 24 additional hours to be considered full time.

Of course, you do have to commit to 2 years, but they pay for everything, and because they want you to succeed, your current manager will work with you as far as scheduling and what not.

I'm a little nervous about the two year committment though, but if you change your mind, you will just have to pay the money that they paid out on your behalf. But...think of it this way, you're garanteed a job.

Congratulations! I wouldn't worry too much about the 2 year committment. From what I hear, HCA is great to work with. And, if you don't like Arlington for whatever reason, there are other locations to transfer to (you can do that during the 2 years). I've known several people that work for them and love them and I start at Med Ctr of McKinney Jan 19!

well, i have my days at MCA. for the most part, i really enjoy what i do, then there are days when i just want to scream. It is good to know that i can transfer, i've heard that they have facilities all over the US. but as far as liking the hospital, i think that no matter where you go, there are going to be issues.

You're right. Good days & bad days happen everywhere. And in the long scheme of things, 2 years is not that long. Especially when you think of what they are paying for. I'd bet it takes people a lot more than 2 years to pay off their school loans!

Congrats to you!
